1. Who we are
Lu-mino is an education technology company registered in the United Arab Emirates. We provide school ERP and online learning platforms — Lumino Sawa (school operations and parent portal) and Lumino Into Teachers (online learning) — to nurseries, schools, course centers, tutors and the parents who use them. For the purposes of this policy, Lu-mino acts as a data controller for visitors to lu-mino.com, and as a data processor for the schools that use our products.
2. Legal framework — UAE PDPL & GDPR
We operate in line with the following data protection laws:
- UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL) — the primary law governing personal data processing in the UAE, supervised by the UAE Data Office.
- EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — Regulation (EU) 2016/679 — applied where we serve users in the European Economic Area or where schools we work with have data subjects under GDPR jurisdiction.
- Sector-specific guidance from UAE education regulators (MoE, ADEK, KHDA, SPEA) where applicable to school clients.
Where the two frameworks differ, we apply whichever standard is stricter for the individual concerned.
